The silver is hand pounded with floral patterns in the traditional style of Cambodian silversmiths. Cambodian silversmiths are considered experts at chasing, repoussé, niello, enameling and gilding. Boxes such as these were important accessory for the storage of betel nuts, opium, balms, traditional medicines and small jewels.
